I am one of an estimated 7 million Americans who became addicted to prescription pain medication. After major spinal surgery, it was easy for me to rationalize that I needed more and more pills to ease my pain. But before I knew it, I was in a deep, dark hole, with no relief in sight. I began taking other medications to try to get off the narcotics, but quickly became addicted to them as well. Add alcohol to the mix, and before I knew it, my life was a total wreck.
I came to New Day Recovery a broken man. I was lost. Hopeless. Alone. My wife and I were separated. I had alienated my children. My job was on the line. The police were looking for me. My body was falling apart. What could this little treatment center in West Monroe, Louisiana, possibly do for me? I needed a miracle.
Little did I know that New Day Recovery specializes in miracles. From the moment I arrived, the entire staff wrapped me in their loving care, and slowly but surely brought me back to life. They did this not with drugs or some fancy psychotherapy, but by bringing me back to God our Father, through His son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” For me, all things did become new at New Day.
After some time and a lot of hard work, I am happier now than I ever could have imagined. My family has reconciled. My career is back on track. My legal issues have been resolved. I am healthy again. My fear has been replaced by faith. But most importantly, I am free. Free of the awful pain of addiction. Free to live. Free to love. Free!
